One of the goals of this XO deployment project is to establish long term training for the teachers who are using the XO in the classroom. Integrating technology in the curriculum is a challenge and when there are not enough to go around, classroom management is even more challenging.
By looking at each grade’s curriculum, the volunteers in the US can provide instructional experience by posting lessons that Ugandan teachers can use in their classroom
For this purpose, a Moodle Distance Learning Site has been established. Each teacher can sign in, see the lessons and interact with each other as well as the teachers in the US.
The over-riding challenge is that Ugandan teachers do NOT have Internet access. We are able to fund one center, the Kabagezi Center,, at the Main St. School. Our other schools do not have internet service. Therefore to take advantage of this worthwhile opportunity, they must go to an Internet Café. Further, their students cannot reach the wealth of resources so readily available for them in the US. This is why one of our first endeavors is to provide Internet access to the 6 schools and 2 teacher learning centers. Can you help? Please see our Support Page or contact email@example.com
